Due to the growing number of recent recalls of different food products including packaged spinach, canned meats, and peanut butter, combined with the ever present threat of bio-terrorism, food safety, security and defense has remained one of the most pivotal issues facing food production, distribution and related support organizations.

The FDA, through departments like the Office of Food Defense, Communication and Response, remains the leading authority on food safety and defense, providing guidance and recommendations to all companies that have any type of involvement in our nation’s food supply.

During this webcast, the FDA will provide you with a comprehensive update on its current food security and defense initiatives. You will learn more about the FDA’s ALERT initiative, which identifies five key points that can decrease the risk of food contamination at your facilities. You’ll also learn about CARVER + Shock, a free software tool available that you can download from the FDA’s website, that can assess vulnerabilities within your production facilities.
