According to the Organic Trade Association, organic food sales, grew 16.2% in 2005, accounting for $13.8 billion in consumer sales. By the year 2025, an estimated 14 percent of the average U.S. household's budget will be devoted to purchasing organic products.
As evident by these statistics, the demand for organic foods from consumers wanting healthier products continues to rise steadily and is more than just a fad. Many food processors are eager to capitalize on this increased demand but are challenged by the organic certification process under the USDA and how to adhere to production standards once achieving certification.
This webcast features Jessica Walden of Quality Assurance International. QAI offers organic certification under the USDA’s National Organic Program for Producers, Processors, Private Labelers, Distributors, Retailers, Restaurants, Wild Crop Harvesters, Greenhouse, Mushrooms, and Facilities. Jessica is an authority on organic certification and will discuss the steps necessary in obtaining certification.
Jessica's presentation will be followed by Tony Harnack II, President of Wellington Foods, a custom contract formulator, manufacturer and packager of nutritional supplements in both liquid and powdered forms. Tony will discuss Wellington’s organic products and how they addressed the challenges of adhering to the strict Organic Food Production standards.
